HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-09-07 ReportReport,No. 1 Mayor Rickard & Members of Council: - The following is a report of meeting3of the Community Services Committee held on September 7th, 1976 and September 14th, 1976:- 1. Tennis Court at Lord Elgin School Mr, Holmes and Mr. Prout presented plans to build one tennis court at Lord Elgin School and that the cost of the said court would be $3,872,00 and would beifunded by the Badminton Club, THAT it be recommended to Council that the plans for the Tennis Courts be approved in principle and that Mr. Holmes bring in quotations for one and two courts, %mcL.2. eum Manat, cox-a�°�.�.c�.,��T�..t'-L��-...,c�.�z Plusant C.nmm;tt.... ....l.....A a..i..., n n__.., Mr. Andy Thompson and Mrs, Leola Thrasher appeared before the Committee with regard to proposed Rules & Regulations for the Museum Board, (a) TWT it be recommended to Council that the members to be appointed to the Museum Committee be recommended by the Museum Board for the approval of the Community Services Committee. (b) THAT it be recommended to Council that the composition of the Museum Committee be decided by the Museum Board. (c) THAT it be recommended to Council that the membership of the Museum Committee be for a maximum of five (5) years and may be reappointed for a futher term, (d) THAT it be recommended tQ Council that the Museum By-law be amended to include the proposed Rules & Regulations, as amended, for the Museum Management Committees and that the amended By-law be circulated to the Committees for their comments and resubmitted to the Community Services Committee, (e) THAT it be recommended to Council that Mr. Robert Lambert be contacted as to his intentions of serving on the Museum Board and if he does not wish to continue with the Board the Council appoint a new Board Member, 3. Janitorial Services Hall No, 2 Newcastle THAT it be recommended to Council that no action be taken with regards to Item No, 3 of the Fire Chiefts report regarding Janitorial Services for Hall No. 2, Newcastle, and that the Volunteer Firemen be requested to do the work, 4. Retirement Banquet THAT it be recommended to Council that a gift in recognition of the retirement of two volunteer firemen from Hall No. 2 be purchased at a cost not to exceed $150,00 each, to be presented at the Retirement Banquet on October 16th, 1976, Continued,,,.. Proclamation for Fire Prevention Week THAT it be recommended to Council that a Notice be placed in the local newspapers during the week of September 27th, 1976 proclaiming Fire Prevention Week from October 3rd to 9th, 1976. 6. Animal Control By -Law THAT the Animal Control By-law, as amended, be forwarded to Council for approval. (See By -Law No. 76-54) 7. Repairs to Animal Control Truck THAT it he recommended to Council that the necessary repairs be made to the Animal Control Truck to the maximum cost of $150.00. 8. New Animal Control Truck THAT it be recommended to the 1977 Council that money to purchase a new Animal Control Truck be placed in next years budget. 9. Radio Communication THAT it be recommended to the 1977 Council that money to install radio communication system be placed in next years Animal Control Budget. 10. Selling of Dog Tags THAT it be recommended to Council that in view of Mr. Fice's absence that another person be contracted to sell Dog Tags and that Councillor Lyall work on the replacement. 11. Mr. Fice re Letter of Thanks THAT it be recommended to Council that a letter be sent to Mr. Fice thanking him for his services to the Town to date. 12. Hockey Registration Fee THAT it be recommended to Council that the fee of $18.00 be charged for Hockey Registrations< Q���l�c-��S C�,,�rc�c�es t�_ �✓. 13. C.P.R. Property THAT it be recommended to Council that the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Cleric be given power to investigate the possibility of obtaining the available C.P.R. property Ifor use by the Newcastle Recreation Department.
