HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-08-03 ReportReport No. 3 Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: - The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held on Tuesday, August 3, 1976: 1. Fire Hall #2 - Lettering It was recommended that the Fire Chief order the lettering for Fire Hall #2 as per quotation from Plastic Letters and Signs Limited, Oshawa, at a cost of approximately $330. as he sees fit. 2. Fire Hall #2 - Window Wells It was recommended that the Fire Chief be authorized to have the window wells at Fire Hall #2 repaired. 3. Fire Hall #2 - Apartment The Fire Chief's report that Mr. & Mrs. Miller will move into the apartment over the Fire Hall on September 1, 1976 was found acceptable and was received for information. 4. Volunteer Fireman - Hall #1 It was recommended that Council concur with the Fire Chief's recommendation for the hiring of Douglas J. Barnett as a Volun eer Fireman for Hall #1. 5. Fire Hall #2 - Furnishings It was recommended to Council that the Chief's list of furnishings for Fire Hall #2, at an approximate cost of $922. be approved, subject to the checking of stacking chairs from the inventory of the Town. 6. Transfer of $575. from Capital Expenditure Budget It was recommended to Council that they approve of the transfer of $575. from the Capital Expenditure Budget of the Fire Department to help defray the cost of these furnishings. 7. Alarm System It was recommended that the Fire Chief bring in an up-to-date report on the total alarm system in all Fire Stations in the Town with the cost and a recommendation as to how it can be financed within the Budget. S. Rotary Club Donation to Soper Creek Park It was recommended to Council that a letter be sent to the Rotary Club of Bowmanville thanking them for the donation of playground equipment at Soper Creek Park. 9. Fall and Winter Program Fees It was recommended to Council that the Schedule of Fees for the Fall and Winter Programs of the Recreation Department, as presented by the Director, be approved with the exception of rates for Hockey. Tennis Courts - Courtice High School It was recommended that Mr. Fanning, in cooperation with the Board of Education, bring in a design plan for tennis courts at the Courtice High School. 11. D. Sadler - Puppy Farms It was recommended that the Secretary reply to the letter from Mr. D. Sadler regarding the Animal By -Law and Kennels. 12. Heritage Foundation Committee It was recommended that a meeting be set up with a representative of the Province, the Chairman of the Community Services Committee and persors who have indicated that they would be interested in working together on a Heritage Foundation Committee, as suggested in a letter from Dyana Layng, Acting Secretary of the Town of Newcastle Museum Board. 13. Anti -Rabies Vaccine Shots It was recommended to Council that the Animal Control Officers receive Booster doses of rabies pre -exposure vaccine (3) as recommended by Dr. John D. Rundle.
