HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-07-05 ReportReport No. 1. Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held on July 5, 1976: 1. Connections to Fire Alarm Control Panel It was recommended to Council that three local companies, Delta Faucet, Hollingshead Limited and Bowmanville Mall be connected into the Municipal Fire Alarm Control Panel at no cost to the Municipality and a fee of $25. per year to the subscriber. 2. Nursing Home direct lines to Fire Department It was recommended to Council that Nel Got Nursing Home and Southaven Nursing Home in the Village of Newcastle have a direct line to the Fire Department (Bell Canada signal line and relay to operate fire siren) at no cost to the Municipality. 3. Lettering - Fire Station X12 It was recommended to Council ghat Newcastle Fire Hall be lettered 'Fire Station2' and the Chief be requested to get competitive prices. 4. Apartment over Fire Station 2 It was recommended to Council that Mr. & Mrs. Miller be informed that as soon as the apartment has been decorated, they may move in, the rent will be payable to the Treasurer of the Town, one month in advance, from the date they move in, and a lease be drawn up. 5. Parking at Apartment It was recommended that Chief Hayman arrange for a parking place for the tenants of the apartment. 6. Resignation of Volunteer Firemen and replacements It was recommended to Council that the letters of resignation from Volunteer Firemen John Forrester, Hall #3 Orono, and Steven Oke, Hall #1 Bowmanville, be accepted with regret and a letter be sent to them thanking them for their past services and Terry W. Hardy be hired to replace Mr. Forrester at Hall #3, subject to medical fitness examination (for a fireman) and subject to 6 months' probation. 7. Animal Control Report The Animal Control Report (copy attached) was received for information. 8. Dog Licence Fee It was recommended that the Animal Control by-law be amended to the effect that the fourth dog in a household require a licence fee of $50. and each additions dog - $50. (By -Law passed at the July 5th meeting of Council). - 2 - 9. Abandoned Cemeteries Report No. 1 It was recommended to Council that the letter from the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations regarding Abandoned Cemeteries in the Town of Newcastle be forwarded to the respective Cemetery Boards and they report back to this Committee within 1 month, what action they deem necessary. 10. Kinsman Contribution to Waverly Park It was recommended to Council that a letter be sent from Council thanking the Kinsman Club for their community spirit and their contributions of playground equipment for Waverly Park. 11. Village Hockey Registration It was recommended to Council that the report of the Village of Newcastle Hockey Committee regarding Fee for Registration - $25. and the ages and requirements be approved.
