HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-06-07 ReportReport No. 1 Mayor Rickard and Members of Ccuncil:- The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held on Monday, June 7, 1976: 1. Brownsdale Recreation Centre The Chairman of the Committee and the Mayor were asked to meet with Brownsdale Community Centre Board, at Brown^dale, on Friday, June 18, at 7:30 p.m. and report back to the Committee regarding a recommendation for a schedule of repayments of the amount owing to the Town as a result of the purchase and renovations to the Centre. 2. Fencing - Haydon Hall It was recommended to Council that the Municipality accept the responsibility of the fence around the Haydon Hall and it be referred to the Committee of the Whole, along with the Director of Works' memo, to determine how the fence will be erected and paid for. 3. Newcastle Reporter The Secretary was instructed to send a letter to the Newcastle Reporter thanking them for the service which they provide in helping to secure homes for dogs and cats by the publicity which they give. 4. Animal Control Report The Animal Control Report for the month of May, 1976, (attached) was received for information. 5. Sale of Dog Tags It was recommended that Mr. Wes Fice be given an opportunity for a two months' trial selling dog licences and report through the Animal Control. The terms of sale to be $2.00 per tag and .15C per mile. 6. Horticultural Societies It was reported that the Bowmanville Horticultural Society had planted the flower boxes at the Darlington Sports Centre. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Society and also to the Societies in Orono and Newcastle, thanking them for the work which they do around the Public Buildings in the Town of Newcastle. 7. Darlington Recreation Committee The minutes of a meeting of the Darlington Recreation Committee held on May 19th were received for information and a copy is to be sent to each member of Council. 8. Water Problem - Soper Creek Park The Engineering Techician was asked to contact L.D.C.M. Investments to rectify th problem of water at Soper Creek Park west of the Ball Screen. 9. Apartment over Fire Hall- Newcastle It was recommended that the apartment over the Fire Hall in Newcastle be offered for rent to Mr. & Mrs. Joe Miller at a monthly rent of $200. including services.
