Mayor Rickard add Members of Council:
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee
held on March 15, 1976 at 7 p.m.
1. The Great Canadian Race
Mr. Havoc Franklin spoke to the Committee about the Great Canadian Race
to be held from Toronto to Montreal in June. This matter was referred to
the Interclub Committee of Service Clubs.
2. Swimming Pool Deficiencies
The Director of Recreation was asked to refer the deficiencies at the Memorial
Park Swimming Pool to the Bowmanville Service Clubs and those at the Newcastle
Swimming Pool to the Newcastle Lions Club.
3. Director of Parks and Recreation
It was recommended to Council that Mr. T. A. Fanning be designated Director of
Parks and Recreation.
4. C.O.M.R.A.
It was recommended that Councillor Cowman solicit support from the Community
Services Committee to attend a meeting of the City of Oshawa Fire Protection
—j and General Purpose Committee to discuss sharing costs with the City of Oshawa
for maintenance of the City of Oshawa Marine Rescue Association.
5. Fire Department Annual Report for 1975
The Newcastle Fire Department Annual Report for 1975, prepared by Area Fire
Chief J.-Hay—.an was presented.
