Mayor Rickard and Members of Counci.l:-
The following recommendations to Council were made at a joint meeting
of the Community Services Committee and the Town of Newcastle Recreation
Advisory Committee on September 26, 19740
1. Date for Official Opening of the Darlington Sports Centre
That the first Saturday in February, 1975, or the first suitable
Saturday thereafter, be a tentative date. It was also suggested
that the opening might be extended to include activities on Friday
night and all day Saturday.
2. Professional study of Recreational needs of Town.
That funds be made available for professional study of the present
and future recreational needs of the Town and the possibility of
government grants for this purpose be investigated.
3. Sunday Sports
That minor hockey not be scheduled on Sunday mornings and rescheduling
be done as soon as possible and letters be sent to those who had
objected to Hockey games being scheduled for Sunday mornings, notifying
them of this motion.
