Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following recommendations to Council were made at a
Meeting of the Community Services Committee held on September
3, 1974, at 1:00 p.m. in Court Room #2, Police and Fire Building:
1. Study re Use of New Arena - that the philosophy of the use of
the new Arena be the subject of a study by the Town of Newcastle
Recreation Advisory Committee.
2. Hiring of Animal Control Officer - that Gary Barchard be
hired as Animal Control Officer, 40 hours per week, at a salary
as per confidential Report to Council.
3. Use of Drop -In Centre - That they concur with the request of
Mr. Neil Newton to use the Drop -In Centre for Printmaking on October
4, 5, and 6 and for Photography on November 2nd and 3rd.
4. Agreement with Association of Browns School - that the matter
of an agreement regarding the use of the former Brown's School as
a Community Centre, be referred to the Finance Commtttee.
5. Tenders for Addition to the Animal Pound - that tenders
be called for the addition to the Animal found as per plans
prepared by Mr. Warren.
6. fencing of Newtonville Cemetery - that the Newtonville
Cemetery be fenced, after a survey to establish the property
lines, and funds be recovered from the money given to the former
Clarke Township for this purpose.
7. Naming of New Arena - that the new Arena be called the
"Darlington Sports Centre".
8. Official Opening of_Spints Ce__ntre - That the Community Services
Committee be authorized to start making plans for an Official Open$lgg
for the new Sports Centre.
9. Mileage for Fence Viewers - That Fence Viewers receive .15o
per mile for calls.

It is recommended by the Community Services Committee that
Gary Barchard be hired as Animal Control Officer at a
salary of $6,780. for a 40 hour week.
