HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-10-25 ReportReport No. 3 Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: - The following is a report of a meeting of the Committee of the Whole held on October 25, 1976¢ 1. Modifications to Bowmanville Town Hall It was recommended to Council that the Consultants' report re Bowmanville Town Hall modifications be referred to the incoming Council for their consideration early in the new year. 2. Land Separation - Petryshyn It was recommended to Council that the reports of the By-law Enforcement Officer and the Fire Chief regarding Petryshyn separation be received for information and the By-law Enforcement Officer be instructed to act. 3. Township of Hope By -Laws 911634 1703 It was recommended that, in view of the date of the O.M.B. Hearing regarding the Township of Hope Zoning By -Laws 91634 and 1703, the Public Works Director Mr. Dunham and the By-law Enforcement Officer, Mr. Best, be given authority to act and attend the O.M.B. Hearing on November 1, 1976. 4. By -Law 75-4 - (Zondervan) It was recommended to Council that By-law 75-4 (Zondervan) be referred to Council and the attached letter from Mr. Richardson, Regional Works, be submitted with the Agenda. 5. Taxi Licence It was recommended to Council that the Deputy Clerk's report re Permanent Taxi Driver's Licence for Gregory Wilson be adopted. 6. Orono Arena It was recommended to Council that a letter be sent -to James Rickard, President of the Durham Fair Board stating that the Orono Arena belongs to them and it is their responsibility to conform to the necessary standards and a copy of the letter be sent to the Ministry of Labour and Totten Sims Hubicki Associates. 7. Planning Directors Workshop It was recommended to Council that they concur with the request of the Planner to attend the Planning Director's Workshop to be held in Toronto on December 13 and 14, 1976. 8. City of Oshawa By-law 124-76 It was recommended that Council object to By-law #124-76 of the City of Oshawa as there is a lack of information as to the impact of the project on the Town of Newcastle's services, more specifically the Town's roads system. Oshawa Subdivision at Townline Road It was recommended to Council that the Plans of the Subdivision be referred to the Director of Public Works for a Report and that a letter be sent under the signature of the Mayor requesting that approval be withheld until Council has had a chance to comment. 10. Country Roads Nursery School It was recommended to Council that the Staff be instructed to submit an amendment to the Zoning By-law to the next Council meeting to permit a Service Club and Nursery School in the Shaw School Building. 11. Limousine Licence It was recommended to Council that Mr. W. Smale of 252 King St. East be granted a Limousine Licence for one vehicle. 12. Traffic Lights Highway lit and Highway 57 It was recommended that Council support the request of Regional Councillors that the feasibility of installing traffic lights at the ir4er:ection of Highways 57 and 2 be studied and that Regional Council be so advised. 13. Mr. L. Parker - Building Permit It was recommended to Council that the Clerk prepare an agreement to allow the use of a trailer for a period of 7 months (November through May) and the Mayor and Clerk be authorised to sign said agreement to allow Mr. Parker to build a new home. 14. Munday vs. Town of Newcastle It was recommended to Council that the Town Solicitor's letter dated October 22, 1976, regarding the Munday Case be received for information and the Solicitor be advised that Council accepts his opinion. 15. Newcastle Hall Board It was recommended that Councillor Lyall pass information regarding the Newcastle Hall Board to the Town Solicitor, but, in the meantime, Councillor Lyall be required by Council to attend Board meetings to look after the Town's interests and that the Solicitor be advised that he may contact any member of the Hall Board for further information.
