Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of a meeting of the Committee of the Whole
held in the Bowmanville Town Hall Committee Room nr i nn r , _ na.._a___
THAT it be recommended to Council that the operations of the City of Oshawa Marine
Rescue Association be subsidized by the Town of Newcastle in the amount of $1,000
for the year 1976.
2. Bowmanville Town Hall Roof
THAT it be recommended to Council that Totten, Sims & Hubicki be requested to
inspect the roof at Bowmanville Town Hall and report back to the Mayor and
Town Clerk regarding repairs necessary and that the Mayor and Clerk be given
Power to act to have the repairs effected.
3. Mr. Peter Weston re L. Shopping Centre
THAT it be recommended to Council that the Site Plan Agreement be accepted and
that the appropriate By-law be presented to the next meeting of Council.
4. Hobbs Drive Town Houses
THAT it be recommended to Council that By -Law No. 76-20 be submitted to Council
for second and third reading on May 17th, 1976.
5. Presto vale Road Allowance -_Garcon
THAT it be recommended to Council that the letter dated April 28th, 1976 from
Mr. Reuban A. Rodney be received for information and that the Town Solicitor be
instructed to draft the necessary agreement in conjunction with the applicantIs
Solicitor and that the Agreement be presented for Councills approval.
6. THAT it be recommended to Council that the requirement of a one foot reserve
$hop on the other side of the road be not required.
7E1Dorado Nuclear Limited
Councillor Lyall presented a petition from the residents of Port Granby opposing
the present E1Dorado Dump or any enlargement. Mayor Rickard also presented a letter
from the Secretary of the Atomic Energy Control Board with a copy of the same
petition which had been submitted by Councillor Lyall to a press conference in
Port Hope on May 6th, 1976.
THAT it be recommended to Council that we unequivocally oppose dump iixg of E1Dorado
Production refuse, or contaminated fill from Port Hope, at the Port Granby Disposal
Site;
AND THAT our Federal and Provincial members be requested to support our position
with utmost vigour.

THAT it be recommended to Council that the Mayor report to the next meeting
of Council on progress of Solicitor in obtaining an injunction to prevent
dumping in Port Granby.
9. THAT it be recommended to Council that the petition be received and
acknowledged and that Council support the residents.
10. Shopping Plazas
Mr. Bowden submitted a Confidential Maao dated May 10th, regarding special
Meeting scheduled for May 12th, 1976.
THAT it be recommended to Council that the special Meeting scheduled for
May 12th, 1976 be postponed till Wednesday, May 26th, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. in
Bowmanville Court Room.
