HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-02-23 ReportReport No. 3 Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: - The following is a Report of a meeting of the Committee of the Whole held at 1 P.M. on Monday, February 23, 1976 in the Committee Room at the Bowmanville Town Hall: 1. Proposed Darlington Generating Station Mr. W. G. Morison and Mr. D. E. Anderson of Ontario Hydro appeared before the Committee to discuss the proposed Liaison Committee and other matters relative to the proposed generating station. Mr. Leighton and Mr. Holliday of Leighton & Kidd were also present. It was recommended to Council that the following be appointed to a Liaison Committee: The Mayor and one other Council Member The Mayor of Oshawa or his Appointee The Regional Commissioner of Planning or his Appointee The Regional Commissioner of Works or his Appointee and that the Committee report back its proposed structure and terms of reference for Council's approval. 2. Other Council Member for Liaison Committee Councillor Entwisle and Councillor Cowman were nominated for the other Council position on the Liaison Committee and on a Secret Ballot being taken, Councillor Entwisle's name was recommended to Council for the appointment. 3. Walter A. Schwirtz It was recommended to Council that they concur with the Planner's report regarding O.M.B. Hearing relative to Walter A. Schwirtz orf March 23, 1976. 4. Stephenson's Salvage Yard It was recommended to Council that a resolution be placed before Council to rescind Council's previous action in requiring a road improvement charge of $5,000. being included in the proposed development agreement with Stephenson's Salvage Yard. 5. Sanding Parking Lots It was recommended that Council concur with the Director of Public Works report dated February 11, 1976 giving his opinion that the policy of sanding Town owned Community Hall parking lots be the responsibility of the local Management Board. 6. E1Dorado Nuclear It was recommended to Council that the letter dated February 19, 1976 from Mr. McNeely be received for information and that the Mayor and Town Clerk be requested to set up an appointment for Council to visit the Minister of the Environment.
