Mayor Rickard and Members of Council:
The following recommendations were made by the Committee of the Whole
at a meeting held in the Committee Room at Bowmanville Town Hall on Monday,
June 23rd, 1975 at 9:00 a.m.:-
1. Highway 407
THAT the Town Clerk contact the Ministry of Transportation and Communications
to find out the status of Highway 407.
2. Tim's Rental re Parking
THAT the first parking space South of King Street East be made into a loading
area and the meter removed.
3. Mr. E. Vierhout re Building Department
THAT Mr. Vierhout be advised that Council can see no valid criticism of the
Building Department in this case.
4. Building By -Law
THAT Mr. John Hubicki be requested to study Mr. Gleiberman's proposal in the
context of the existing Building By-law and advise if in his opinion the By-law
should be amended.
5. Association of Ontario Housing Authorities
THAT Council apply for Associate Membership of the Association of Ontario Housing
Authorities for an annual membership fee of $50.00.
6. Game Commission
THAT a Resolution be introduced `o Council to appoint a Game Commission for the
Town of Newcastle.
7. Permanent Taxi Drivers Licences
THAT the following persons be issued permanent Taxi Driver's Licences having been
approved by the Police Department: -
(a) Larry Hugh Connors, 22 Liberty Place, Bowmanville
(b) David G. Geroux, 280 Wentworth Street, Oshawa
(c) Dennis G. Coombes, 185 Rossland Road East, Oshawa

8. Extension of Village of Newcastle Study Area
THAT Council concur with the Planner's recommendation dated June 2nd, 1975 that
the Village of Newcastle study area be extended southward to the Lake Shore Line
between Graham Creek and Wilmot Creek.
9. Courtice Area
THAT Murray Jones be asked if they see any reason to extend their study South
of the present Courtice Study Area.
10. IClompmaker Property Road Widening
THAT with reference to Lovekin and Cureatz letter of May 26th, 1975 the deeding
of land by John Luxton to the Township of Darlington be deemed to be for road
widening purposes as referred to in Instrument 15662 registered May 28th, 1938,
being the westerly ten feet of North one quarter of South half of Lot 6,
Concession 3, Township of Darlington.
11. Minutes and Reports
THAT Council concur with Report of the Sub Committee appointed by Resolution
#CW -181-75.
12. Township of Hope By -Law No. 1634
THAT the Ontario Municipal Board be advised in the proper form that, until such
time as the Township of Hope assumes complete maintenance and necessary reconstruction
on the Newcastle/Hope Boundary Road between the Lakeshore Road and Highway No. 2
including the railroad crossings, the Town of Newcastle is opposed to any development
in the area covered by Township of Hope By -Law No. 1634.
13. O.M.B. re By -Law No. 74-84
THAT Council concur with the amendment to By -Law No. 74-84 as proposed by the
Regional Planning Commissioner and that an amending By-law be submitted to Council.
14. Mr. & Mrs. Mantle re Rental of Land at West Beach
THAT Mr. & Mrs. Mantel's request as contained in their letter of June 24th, 1975
be granted and that the land be leased at $1.00 per year on an annual renewal
basis legal expenses to be at the applicants cost.
15. Interim Planning Policies for Region of Durham
THAT Council concur with the Planner's report dated June 16th, 1975 relative to
Interim Planning Policies for Region of Durham.
16. Interim District Plan - Town of Newcastle
THAT the Regional Council be requested to approve the Interim District Plan forthwith.
