SUBJECT: Land purchase for future community needs.
Because Council is always so busy, new business
never gets to be discussed. Iwish to bring this
to the attention of the Committee:
It has been brought to my attention that the
City of Oshawa has recently purchased lands
for proposed future needs of North East Oshawa
for community use, at a cost in excess of
$80,000. per acre.
In the light of this information, I am not
asking Council to reconsider the purchase of
some of the excess lands at the junction of Martin
Road and Highway #2, (Watson Farm), but I am
begging them to reconsider and negotiate a
purchase in the interest of the future citizens
of the Town of Newcastle.
