Confidential Resolution #C-429-02
Personnel Issues
Moved by Councillor Schell, seconded by Councillor Trim
THAT the two confidential personnel issues be approved as
recommended.

OTHER BUSINESS
Resolution #C-430-02
Moved by Councillor Trim, seconded by Councillor Schell
WHEREAS the Municipality of Clarington is a high growth area;
AN D WHEREAS up to 20,000 of the municipality's 75,000 residents
are without a family physician;
AND WHEREAS area nursing homes cannot find physician
coverage;
AND WHEREAS patient/physician ratio in the municipality is 1 :2864
versus the recommended 1: 1380;
AND WHEREAS our current physicians are overworked as they
provide primary care, cover our Emergency Ward 24 hours a day,
seven days a week and work in the After Hours Clinic;
AND WHEREAS our Emergency Room has 36,000 acute care
visits annually:
AND WHEREAS the Clarington area requires an additional 11
family physicians:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Ministry of Health
be advised that the Council of the Municipality of Clarington fully
supports the Application to have Clarington designated as an
underserviced area.

Resolution #C-431-02
Moved by Councillor Schell, seconded by Councillor Rowe
THAT leave be granted to introduce By-law 2002-129, being a
by-law to amend By-law 84-63, the Comprehensive Zoning By-law
for the former Town of Newcastle, and that the said by-law be now
read a first and second time.

THAT the third and final reading of By-law 2002-129 be approved.

Resolution #C-433-02
Moved by Councillor Ping Ie, seconded by Councillor Schell
THAT leave be granted to introduce By-law 2002-130 being a
by-law to confirm the proceedings of the Special Council of the
Municipality of Clarington at this special meeting held on the 9th
day of September 2002, and that the said by-law be now read a
first and second time.
