HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-258 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-LAW 97-258 being a by-law to repeal By-law #94-198, and to appoint a member of the council to act in the place of the head of council for the Municipality of Clarington WHEREAS Section 69(2) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.45 authorizes the council of the municipality to appoint a member of the council to act in the place of the head of the council; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington deems it expedient to appoint a member of the council to act from time-to-time in the place and stead of the head of council when the head of council is absent from the Municipality or absent through illness or her office is vacant and, while so acting, such member has and may exercise all the rights, powers and authority of the head of council; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. THAT each member of council serve in alphabetical order for a two-month period as follows: Councillor John Mutton - December 1997 and January 1998 Councillor Mary Novak - February and March 1998 Councillor Jane Rowe - April and May 1998 Councillor Jim Schell - June and July 1998 Councillor Charlie Trim - August and September 1998 Councillor Troy Young - October and November 1998 Councillor John Mutton - December 1998 and January 1999 Councillor Mary Novak - February and March 1999 Councillor Jane Rowe - April and May 1999 Councillor Jim Schell - June and July 1999 Councillor Charlie Trim - August and September 1999 Councillor Troy Young - October and November 1999 Councillor John Mutton - December 1999 and January 2000 Councillor Mary Novak - February and March 2000 Councillor Jane Rowe - April and May 2000 Councillor Jim Schell - June and July 2000 Councillor Charlie Trim - August and September 2000 Councillor Troy Young - October and November 2000 2. THAT By-law #94-198, is hereby repealed. By-law read a first and second time this 1 st day of December 1997. By-law read a third time and finally passed this 1 st day of December 1997.
