'8/ Report #: Subject: CD-9-98 File #: By-law # HERITAGE DESIGNATION - 59 MILL STREET NORTH, NEWCASTLE Recommendations: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee receommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report CD-9-98 be received; 2. THAT the appropriate by-law be forwarded to Council upon receipt of all required documentation; and 2. THAT the Clerk be authorized to carry out all actions necessary to complete the process of property designation pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.O.18 and detailed within Report CD-9-98. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: With the adoption of Report PD-161-97, Council authorized the Clerk to proceed with designating the subject property as a historic property. The Notice of Intention to Designate has been forwarded to the owners of the property and to the Ontario Heritage Foundation and was published in the local newspaper. The period for filing objections to the proposed designation ended on January 16, 1998. No objections have been filed, therefore it is appropriate that the designation continue. This process involves: .. ./2 701 " I Report CD-9-98 - 2 - February 2, 1998 · designation by-law being passed by Council · publication of the notice of designation in the local newspaper · certified copy of the by-law forwarded to the Ontario Heritage Foundation . by-law registered on title · Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee advised of designation Prior to passage of the by-law, an authorization form, together with a copy of the deed for the property must be received from the property owner.
