BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
Tenders were called on a co-operative basis by the Region of Durham,
which included Mixing of Sand and Salt requirements of the
Municipality of Clarington. Subsequently, in July 1997, Council
awarded the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Robert Young
Construction. The specifications for this tender provided for an
option to renew for a second and third year pending satisfactory
service and pricing. As Robert Young Construction has provided
satisfactory service and has agreed to extend the 1997 tendered
prices for a second year, the recommendation of the Durham Purchasing
Co-operative is to extend the contract for the 1998/99 season.
