THAT Report TR-26-9,8 be received; 2. THAT the contract award to Robert Young Construction, Ennismore, Ontario, with a total unit price of $0.98 per tonne, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications of the Co-operative Tender T-283- 97, be extended for the 1998/99 winter season to supply the mixing of sand and salt to the Municipality of Clarington, as required by the Department of Public Works; 3. THAT upon expiry of the contract extension, satisfactory service by the low bidder, and pending of the Durham Purchasing Co-operative Participants, contract be extended for a third year; and pending agreement tha t the 4. THAT the funds be drawn from the Public Works approved Winter Maintenance Accounts for the 1998/99 Winter season requirements; FORTHWITH. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT Tenders were called on a co-operative basis by the Region of Durham, which included Mixing of Sand and Salt requirements of the Municipality of Clarington. Subsequently, in July 1997, Council awarded the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Robert Young Construction. The specifications for this tender provided for an option to renew for a second and third year pending satisfactory service and pricing. As Robert Young Construction has provided satisfactory service and has agreed to extend the 1997 tendered prices for a second year, the recommendation of the Durham Purchasing Co-operative is to extend the contract for the 1998/99 season. 801 REPORT NO.: TR-26-98 PAGE 2 After review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and Public Works staff, it was mutually agreed that the low bidder, Robert Young Construction, Ennismore, Ontario, be recommended for the contract extension to supply Mixing of Sand and Salt to the Municipality of Clarington. The required funds will be drawn from the 1998/99 winter season requirements from which there are adequate funds available. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc., should be referred to the Director of Public Works.
