THAT Report TR-21-98 be received for information. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: 1.0 On January 29, 1996, the Ontario Legislature passed the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act. This Act requires the Municipality to disclose annually the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more a year. 1.1 In 1997, employees paid a salary, as defined in the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, of $100,000 or more by the Municipality of Clarington were as follows: W.H. Stockwell Chief Administrative Officer Basic Pay Pension Adjustment Total $ 96,409.91 6,625.34 $103,035.25 $627.49 1.2 It is important to note that the basic pay for the Chief Administrative Officer is the gross salary before statutory deductions for tax, C.P.P., EI etc. The pension adjustment is the value of the employer's contribution to OMERS for all employees. Since Mr. Stockwell is not participating in OMERS, this is the pension equivalent paid to his own plan. 1.3 The Municipality is required to submit this information to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and to include the information in the Municipality I s annual financial statements. 822 , ...., .4"'" REPORT TR-21-98 PAGE 2 1.4 The Ministry of Finance will prepare, for public release on April P\ a compendium of records of all employees in the Province whose salaries are disclosed.
