REPORT
1. 0 REVIEW AND COMMENT
1.1 In 1989 the Public Works Department purchased a Street
Flusher at a cost $92,456.64 for the flushing of
municipal streets. The flusher is mainly used in spring
flushing of the roads and flushing during the summer
season.
1.2 As the result of continuing corrosion, leaks in the tank have
developed and expensive repairs will be required. Major
repairs were previously done on the water tank but were
covered under warranty. The main part of the vehicle is in
relatively good operation.
1.3 It is recommended by the Public Works Department that the tank
be replaced. It is anticipated that since the rest of the
vehicle is in good condition, the purchase of a new water tank
would extend the life expectancy of the vehicle.

COSTS
The cost ,to purchase a new water tank is est:j.matedat $;!6,000.
This cOst is budgeted in the 1998 Public works cap:j.tal budget.
'.0 COHCLUSIONS
4;1 As mentioned above, the main operation period is during spring
and su~r. Spring Clean-up usually co~nces in April and
this is the time when the fluJiJher is mainly requir..ed. In the
winter time, the flusher is kept in storage and is not in
opet'Cl.tion. It is recommended by the Public Works Department
that Council approve an early tender call for thepurcl1ase of
a water tank at an estimated cost of $26,000, witl1 forthwith
approval so that the flusher will be ready when it; is needed
in the spring.
Respectfully submitted,
