WILLIAM CLARKE Recommendations: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose & Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:- 1. THAT Report No. CS-23-92 be received; 2. THAT a one time grant in the amount of $2,000 be approved for the Newtonville Cenotaph landscaping project; 3. THAT the necessary funds be drawn from the Unclassified Administration Contingency Account Number 7007-00000-0298; and 4. THAT Mr. William Clarke be advised of action take by Council. 1.0 BACKGROUND: 1.1 At the May 25th, 1992 meeting of Council a delegation from Mr. William Clarke was heard requesting a one time grant from the Town to assist in an upgrading of the grounds around the Newtonville Cenotaph. The request was referred by Council to the Director of Community services and the Treasurer for review and report to be submitted to the General Purpose and Administration Committee. 1.1 Prior to appearing before Council, Mr. Clarke approached the Community services Department staff in January 1992 pertaining to the upgrading of the grounds around the Newtonville Cenotaph. The Community services Department agreed to provide in-house labour at no cost to the project. CS-23-92 - 2 - JULY 6, 1992 Community services Department would provide a design for the landscaping works. 2.0 COMMENTS: 2.1 As this is a worthwhile community project, staff is recommending that a one time grant in the amount of $2,000.00 be provided for the purpose of landscaping the Newtonville Cenotaph. 2.2 The recommendations contained in this report have been reviewed and agreed to by the Treasurer.
