BY-LAW NO. 78-76

a by-law to authorize the purchase of property for and
construction of a Fire Hall at Courtice.
WHEREAS Paragraph 25 of Subsection (I) of Section 354 of the Municipal
Act, R.S.O. 1970, c. 284, s. 354(1) authorizes local municipalities to pass by-laws
for acquiring land and erecting thereon a fire hall, and for issuing debentures therefor
and;
WHEREAS Council is desirous of providing a new Fire Hall to serve the Courtice
area of the Town of Newcastle;
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle hereby
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
(I) That the property belonging to John L. Baker, Part of lot 30, Cone. 3,
Darlington be purchased at a cost of $35,000.
(2) That a building be erected at an estimated cost of $250,000. for use as a
fire hall.
(3) That total estimated cost of $285,000. after deduction of a sum of $35,000.
in Park Fund, that is $250,000. be debentured over a period of ten years.
(4) That the construction be carried out under the supervision of Totten Sims
Hubicki Limited.
(5)
That the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby authorized to cause a contract
for the construction of the said work to be made and entered into with some
person or persons, firm or corporation subject to the approval of the Council
to be declared by resolution; and that the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby
further authorized to do all acts and sign all documents and affix the
Corporate Seal of the Town thereto as may be necessary in connection with the
making of contracts and other matters for the completion of the said
undertaking or work.
(6) That the Treasurer of the Municipality is hereby authorized to make
arrangements to sign any necessary documents to arrange temporary advances
of money to meet the cost of the work pending the completion of the work
and the sale of the debentures.

THE BOARD ORDERS that this application be granted and the
applicant may proceed with the said undertaking and may
pass all requisite by-laws, and The Regional Municipality
of aurham may issue debentures therefor not exceeding
$250,000.00 and not to exceed the net cost of' such under-
taking to the applioant for a term not to exceed ten years.
