THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW NO. 78-7
a by-law of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
to establish the position and to define and determine
the duties and responsibilities of the Director of
Planning
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient and desirable to establish the position of
Director of Planning and to define and determine the duties and responsibilities
thereof;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That there is hereby established the position of Director of Planning
2. That he/she shall be responsible to the Town Manager for the proper
administration of the Planning Department in accordance with objectives
and policies approved by Council.
3. That the Director of Planning shall
(a) administer the day to day operation of the Planning Department.
(b) represent Town on Planning Matters before the Public, Ontario Municipal
Board and/or other jJdicial agencies, the Region of Durham and other
gc.vernment agencies.
(c) oversee - processing, circulation and comment on Zoning by-law
amendments and Official Plan amendments.
- processing, circulation and comments on residential industrial and
commercial plans of subdivision applications
- District Plans for Urban Areas
- Secondary Plans
- Hamlet District Plans
- Long Term Development & Gro~t~ Strategy
- Special Studies for Central Areas
- Housing policy
- ongoing monitoring of social/economic impact of population growth
Town's position in regard to Land Severance applications
- Town's position in regard to Committee of Adjustment applications.
