THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY- LAW NUMBER 78- 5
being a by-law authorizing Council to establish
the Newcastle Arena as a Con~unity Centre.
WHEREAS The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle considers it desirable
to createa Community Centre for the enjoyment and benefit of the residents of the
Town of Newcastle, and in particular for the use and enjoyment of the residents
of the community in or about the environs of the former Village of Newcastle;
AND WHEREAS The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle has authorized the
construction of an arena and community centre;
AND WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
considers it desirable that the said a::-ena a::.j community centre be a community
centre as contemplated by The Community Centres Act, R.S.a., 1970, Chapter 73
as amended;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the Council of The Corporation of the
Town of Newcastle as follows:
1. That the arena and community centre be and they are hereby
established as a co~nunity centre pursuant to The Community
Centres Act, R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 73, as amended.
2. That the aforesaid arena and community centre be under the
management and control of a board appointed by this Council to
be called "The Newcastle Arena Management Board" and hereinafter
referred to as the "Board", to be comprised of 5 persons, all of
whom shall be appointed annually by Council; two of whom shall be
members of Council and it is the wish of this Council, without
binding any future Council that three members shall be residents
of the former Village of Newcastle to be appointed annually by
resolution of Council.
3. The Board may make such rules as it considers necessary
relating to management and control of the arena and community
centre.
