BY-LAW NO. 77-69
being a by-law to authorize the construction
of a Commu~ity Sports Arena on Park Street,
Orono
WHEREAS application has been made to the Ontario Municipal Board
for the Construction of a Community Sports Arena at an estimated cost
of $930,800. to be financed by Tax Rate, Subsidies, Wintario Grant and
Public Subscription:
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That a Community Sports Arena be constructed on Park Street, Orono.
2. That the estimated cost will be $930,800. to be financed as follows:
Current Revenue
Community Centres Grant
Agricultural Societies
Grant
Wintario Grant
Public Subscription
$ 74,750.
$105,850.
$ 14,600.
$475,250.
$260,350.
$930,800.

3. That the said construction shall be under the Supervision of Totten
Sims Hubicki Associates Ltd., Consulting Engineers.
4. That the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby authorized to cause a
contract for the construction of the said work to be made and entered into
with some person or persons, firm or corporation, subject to the approval
of the Council to be declared by resolution; and that the Mayor and Clerk
be and are hereby further authorized to do all acts and sign all dccuments
and affix the Corporate Seal of the Town thereto as may be necessary in
connection with the making of contracts and other matters for the completion
of the said undertaking or work.
5. That the Treas~rer of the Municipality is hereby authorized to make
arrangements to sign any necessary documents to arrange temporary advances
of money to meet the cost of the work pending the completion of the work and
the receipt of Grants and Public subscription.
6. This by-law shall not take effect until it receives the approval of
the Ontario MUnicipal Board under Section 64 (1) of The Ontario Municipal
Board Act.
By-law read a First, Second and Third Time and finally passed this 3rd day
of October, 1977.

THE BOARD ORDERS that tids application be granted
and the applicant may proceed with the said undet'taking
and may pass all requisite by-laws, including borrowing
by-laws to borrow an amount not exceeding $930,000.00
and not to exceed the net cost of such undertaking to
the applicant, pending the receipt ot subsidies or moneys
from any other source; provided tha't no part of the
estimated cost ot $930,gOO.OO shall be debentured.
