By-Law No. 76-75 Being a by-law to amend By-Law No. 74-72 as amended by By-Law No. 74-87 and By-Law No. 76-19 being a by-law for licensing, regulating and governing taxi drivers, brokers and taxi vehicle oh~ers, buses, motor and other vehicles used for hire and for establishing rates and fares to be charged by the owners or drivers of such vehicles for the conveyance of goods, passengers, either wholly within the municipality or to any point not more than three miles beyond its limits, and for providing for collection of such rates or fares and for revoking any such licences. BE IT ENACTED and it is hereby enacted as a By-law of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle as fol1ows:- THAT By-Law No. 74-72 passed by the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle on the 21st day of October, 1974 and amended by By-Law No. 74-87 and by By-Law No. 76-19 is hereby further amended as follows:- THAT Section 14. Tariff and Tariff Cards be hereby deleted and substituted by the fo1Iowing:- e "Tariff and Tariff Cards 14. The rates of fares to be charged by the owners of taxicabs and limousines (other than drive-self vehicles) for the conveyance of passengers wholly within the Town of Newcastle or to any point not more than three miles beyond its limits, shall be exactly as shown in Tariff "A" of this by-law, and no higher or lower amount than that contained in the said Tariff shall be charged or payable, whether such rates and charges are determined by distance or by time; providec an owner and a customer may enter into a contract, in writing, for services to extend for the period of a year or more on runs between fixed points at an agreed Tariff, but the duplicate original of such contract must be filed within three months and approved by Council. No owner or driver shall publish or use a Tariff other than that authorized by the Council. An owner or driver licensed hereunder may operate a taxicab on an hourly basis at the request of a passenger, and then only at the rate therefor fixed by Tariff "A" of this by-law."
