THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW NO. 76-44
Being a By-law to amend By-Law No. 74-89
being a by-law to establish certain policy
and benefits for employees not covered by
Union Agreements.
WHEREAS By-Law No. 74-89 passed by the Council of the Town of
Newcastle on the 16th day of December, 1974, established a certain policy and
benefits for employees not covered by Union Agreement
AND WHEREAS Council deems it expedient to amend said By-Law No.
74-89
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Newcastle enacts as follows:
1.
That Section 7 (c) of By-law No. 74-89 be deleted and
the following words substituted:
"Leave of Absence for Jury Duty
An employee called for jury duty or as a witness in gny court
will be granted leave of absence without loss of pay for the
duration of such jury duty less any fee paid for the service and
subject to the Clerk of the Court Certifying same.
2.
That By-law 74-89 be amended by adding a new section 9 to
read as follows:
"Mileage Allowance"
Employees requested to use their own vehicles for business
purposes will be reimbursed at the rate of 20 cents per mile
for all miles trave:led for the Corporation with effect from
January 1, 1976.
3. That By-law No. 74-89 be amended by adding a new Subsection (i)
to Section 7 to read as follows:
" Workmen's Compensation
An employee prevented from performing his regular work with the
Corporation on account of an occupational accident that is
recognized by the Workmen's Compensation Board as being compen-
s~~le within the meaning of the Compensation Act, shall receive
from the Corporation the difference between the amount payable
by the Workmen's Compensation Board and his net salary so long
as he remains on full compensation.

4. That Section # 8 of By-law No. 74-89 be renumbered
as Section 9.
