THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
By-law No. 76-28
Being a By-law to designate certain portions of
roadways within the Corporation of the Town of
Newcastle as "PEDESTRIAN CROSSOVERS\1
.
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to designate certain portions
of roadways under the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the
Town of Newcastle as "PEDESTRIAN CROSSOVERS 11; ,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED as a
By-law of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle through
its Council thereof as follows:
(1) For the purpose of this by-law "PEDESTRIAN
CROSSOVER" means any portion of a roadway,
designated by By-law, at an intersection or
elsewhere, distinctly indicated for pedes-
trian crossing by signs on the highway and
lines or other markings on the surface of
the roadway as prescribed by regulation 42,
under The Highway Traffic Act.
(2) That the portions of highways set out in
Column 1 of Schedule A to this by-law at the
locations set out in Column 11 of the said
Schedule are hereby designated as pedestr1an
crossovers.

(3) The penalties provided in Section 152 of
the Highway Traffic Act shall apply to off-
ences against this by-law.
(4) Any inconsistent by-laws insofar as they
apply to highways under the jurisdiction of
the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
are hereby repealed.
(5) This by-law shall come into force on the
date that it is approved by the Council of I
the Regional Municipality of Durham and when
signs to the effect are erected.
