THE CORPORAT ION OF THE
TOm~ OF NEWCASTLE

A by-law to authorise the purchase and modification
of property for a Fire Hall.
WHEREAS Paragraph 25 of Subsection (1) of Section 354 of the Municipal Act
(R.S.O. 1970, c.. 284, s.. 354(1) authorises local municipalities to pass by-l~7s
for acquiring land and erecting thereon a fire hall, and for issuing debentures
therefor and;
WHEREAS there is an amount of $20,000 in a Reserve Fund for the purchase
of a Fire Hall in the area of the former Village of Newcastle and;
WHEREAS Council is desirous of providing a new Fire Hall to serve an area
of the Town of Newcastle which includes the former Village of Newcastle;
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle hereby
enacts as follows:-
(1) That the property belonging to Carveth Motors Limited in Part of Lot 7"
Concession 1, of the former Village of Newcastle be purchased at a cost
of $125,000.
(2) That the building be modified at an estimated cost of $15,000 for use as
a Fire Hallo
(3) That total estimated cost of $140,000 after deduction of a sum of $20,000
in special Reserve Fund, that is $120,000 be debentured over a period
of ten years..
(4) That the modifications be carried out under the supervision of Totten,
Sims Hubicki Limited.
(5) That the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby authorised to do all acts and sign
all documents and affix the Corporate Seal of the Town thereto as may be
necessary in connection with the making of contracts and other matters for
the completion of the said undertakings.
(6) That the Treasurer of the Municipality is hereby authorised to make arrangements
to sign any necessary documents to arrange temporary advances of money to
meet the cost of the work pending the completion of the work and the sale of
the debentures.
