THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE

BY-LAW NO. 75-28
being a by-law to amend by-law No. 74-29
being a by-law to provide for the licensing
and registration of dogs and for regulating
the running at large of dogs.
WHEREAS the Municipal Act,R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, Sec. 354,
S.s. 1 and 2 authorizes the licensing and registering of dogs and the
regulating of running at large of dogs;
AND WHEREAS By-law 74-29 was passed by the Council of the
Corporation of the Town of Newcastle on the 18th day of February, 1974;
AND WHEREAS the said Council deems it necessary to amend By _
law No. 74-29
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the
Town of Newcastle ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1.
That By-Law No. 74-29 be amended as follows;
Section 1 (3) be deleted and the following substituted,
1. (3) llrunning at large" a dog shall be deemed to be running at
large when found in any place other than the premises of
the owner of the dog and not under the control of any person".
Section 2 (1) be deleted and the following substituted,
2. (1) Except as otherwise provided by this by-law, the owner of
every dog in the Town of Newcastle shall before the
fifteenth day of March in each year pay to the Town of
Newcastle a license fee of $7.00 for each dog.
Section 2 (3) be deleted.

Section 2 (5) be deleted and the following substituted
~ 2. (5) Every person who becomes the owner of a dog after the 15th
day of March in each year shall register the same and pay
the license fee therefore as provided in Section 2, within
fifteen days after becoming the owner of such dog.
2. This by-law shall come into effect on the date of the final
reading thereof.
READ A FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD TIME and fi.nally passed this
of April, A.D. 1975.
