OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE ,).22. being a by-law to provide for the erection of tlSTopn signs at certain intersections within the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle. WHEREAS Section 89(a) of The Highway Traffic Act (R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 202) provides that the Council of a Municipality and the Trustees of a Police Village may by by-law approved by the Ministry, provide for the erection of stop signs at intersections on highways under its juris- diction, and every sign so erected shall comply with the regulations of the Ministry: NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED as a . By-law of The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle through its Council thereof as follows: 1. The intersections of highways set out in Column I of Schedule I attached, are designated as intersections where stop signs shall be erected facing traffic as shown in Column 2 of said Schedule. 2. Any person violating the provisions of this by-law shall be subject to the penalty provided for such violations in the Highway Traffic Act. 3. By-laws 1784, 1850, 1886, 1894, 68-47, 70-4, 70-23, 71-15, 73-43 and 73-72 of the former Town of Bowmanville; and any other inconsis- tent By-law insofar as they apply to highways now under the jus is- diction of The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle as established by the Regional Municipality of Durham Act are hereby repealed.
