The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
By-Law 81-85
a by-law to provide for the payment of an annual allowance to the
Mayor and Members of Council.
Pursuant to the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, Section 388, the
Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle HEREBY ENACT as follows:-
1. That effective January 1, 1981 the Mayor be paid an annual
allowance of Eighteen Thousand, Five Hundred dollars ($18,500),

2. That effective January 1, 1982 the Mayor be paid an annual
allowance of Twenty-one Thousand dollars ($21,000).
3. That effective January 1, 1981 the Regional Councillors be paid
an annual allowance of Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred dollars ($7,800).
4. That effective January 1, 1981 the Area Councillors be paid an annual
allowance of Eight Thousand, Six Hundred dollars ($8,600).
5. That effective January 1, 1982 the Area Councillors and Regional
Councillors be paid an annual allowance of Nine Thousand dollars ($9,000).

6. Such allowance shall be paid bi-weekly and in the event of the death
of a member or upon his ceasing to be a member for any reason before the
expiration of t<lis term of office, the amount shall be in proportion to
the period of his service during such term.
7. That by-law 79-62 and by-law 80-80 be and are hereby repealed.
