THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-lAW 81-82 A By-law to appoint a Chief Administrative Officer The Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle HEREBY ENACTS AS FOllOWS: 1. That Donalo N. Smith is hereby appointed the Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Newcastle. 2. That Donald N.Smtth shall be paid for his servic~such sum annually in accordance with the terms and conditions as set out in Schedule "A" attached hereto. 3. The said appoi ntment shall be in accordance with the terms and conditions as set out in Schedule "A" attached hereto. . By-law read a first time this Seventh day of July 1981. The following shall be the terms and conditions of the employment of Donald N. Smith as Administrator, Town of Newcastle, namely: 1. Effective August 1~ 1981, Donald N. Smith shall commence his employment with the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle as Administrator; 2. The duties and responsibilities of the Administrator are those established by By-law 77-77 as may be amended from time to time; 3. Donald N. Smith shall be remunerated at a rate to be established in accordance with the Salary Administration Policy for non-affiliated staff currently being developed by Thorne Stevenson & Kellogg and, failing the adoption of a policy, at such rate as may be agreed between Council and Donald_N. Smith. Salary adjustments shall be made from time to time in accordance with the Salary Administration Program and, failing the adoption of a policy by Council, the salary of Donald N. Smith shall be reviewed annually; 4. Donald N. Smith shall be entitled to receive any salary adjustment granted to the position of Director of Planning retroactive to January 1st, 1981 on a pro rata basis for the period of time that he served as Director of Planning for the year 1981; 5. Donald N. Smith shall be entitled to not less than four weeks vacation per annum calculated under the terms of the contract; 6. Donald N. Smith shall be entitled to all accumulated sick leave which he presently has with the Town of Newcastle; 7. Donald N. Smith shall be entitled to all other employee benefits enjoyed by all other depart- ment heads as may be determined from time to time; . . . ~ ~ - 2 - " ... 8. The term of the appointment of Donald N. Smith as Administrator shall be for a period of two years from August 1st, 1981 unless otherwise mutually agreed provided that either party may terminate this agreement prior to the expiry of the period upon six months prior notice in writing to the other.
