THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
By-Law 81- 55
BEING A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
TO ESTABLISH THE POSITION OF DEPUTY-TREASURER.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of section 218 of the Municipal Act,
R.S.O., 1970, the council of a municipality may appoint a Deputy-Treasurer;
NOW THEREFORE, the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle by its Council
enacts as follows:-
1. That the position of Deputy-Treasurer for the Town of Newcastle is
hereby established.

2. That the duties of the Deputy-Treasurer shall be as follows:-
a) Act for the Treasurer in his absence.
b) Assist the Treasurer in the operation of annual municipal budget.
c} Assist the Treasurer in preparation of the municipal financial
statements.
d) Provide assistance to departments and Council in the analysis and
interpretation of financial information.
e) Provide assistance to Department Heads in budget preparation.
f) Liaise with community centre boards in relation to th.eir budget
control and financial reporting.
g) Analyse, and establish departmental operating procedures.
h) Establish and maintain purchasing procedures.
i) Supervise and provide technical assistance to clerical staff in
regard to accounts payable,payroll, and general accounting.
j) Establish and maintain accounts receivable procedures.
k) Establish procedures for interdepartmental operating interface on
financial matters.
1) Other duties as may be assigned by the Treasurer.
