By-Law 81- 54
BEING A BY-LAW TO ESTABLISH THE POSITION OF TAX COLLECTOR.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of section 226 of the Municipal Act,R.S.O.,
1970, the council of an municipality may appoint a Tax Collector;
NOW THEREFORE, the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle by its Council
enacts as follows:-
1. That the position of Tax Collector for the Town of Newcastle is hereby
established.
2. That the said Tax Collector will be a member of the Treasury Department
reporting to the Treasurer and his duties shall include the following:-
a) Supervise the activities related to the collecting and recording of
taxes including liaison with service bureau regarding the preparation
tax bill s and reminder notices.

b) Prepare tax appeal reports for Council.
c) Follow up on delinquent taxpayers.
d) Preparation of section 43 additions to the tax roll.
e) Reconci,l ;atton of taxes receivable.
f) Prepare Cash Flow Analysis.
g) Arrange Short Term Investments under direction of Treasurer.
h) Supervise the signing and issuance of all general account cheques.
i) Control loans and repayment of same under the Ontario Home Renewal Program.
j) Prepare reports and analysis as required by the Treasurer.
