THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-LAW 81-41 being a by-law to designate the Old Clarke Township Hall of architectural and historical value. WHEREAS the Ontario Heritage Act, 1974, authorizes the Council of a Municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property, including all the buildings and structures thereon to be of historic or architectural value or interest; and WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Newcastle has caused to be served upon the owner of the lands and premises known as the Old Clarke Township Hall situated at the North East corner of Main and Park Streets in the former Police Village of Orono in the former Township of Clarke, now in the Town of Newcastle in the Region of Durham, and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation, notice of intention to so designate the aforesaid real property and has caused such notice of intention to be published in a newspaper having a general circulation in the municipality once for each of three consecutive weeks; and WHEREAS the Old Clarke Township Hall has a very significant historical and architectural value and interest to the Town of Newcastle and its people, and . WHEREAS the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee of the Town of Newcastle has recommended that the Old Clarke Township Hall be "designated propertyll under the terms of the Ontario Heritage Act; and WHEREAS no notice of objection to the proposed designation has been served upon the Clerk of the Municipality; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1) There is designated as being of historic and architectural value of interest the real property more particularly described in Schedule IIAII hereto, known as the Old Clarke Township Hall of the former Township of Clarke, now the Town of Newcastle. 2) The Town Solicitor is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this by-law to be registered against the property described in Schedule "A" hereto in the proper Land Registry Office. 3) The Town Clerk is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this by-law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation and to cause notice of this by-law to be published in a newspaper having general circulation in the Town of Newcastle. Schedule IIAII to By-Law 81-41 ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate, lying and being in the Town of Newcastle, Regional Municipality of Durham, Province of Ontario, and being composed of Village Lot Seven (7), Block 0, fronting on Main Street, within Township Lot Twenty-eight (28), Concession 5, according to C. G. Hanning's Plan of the former Village of Orono, SAVING AND EXCEPTING thereout and therefrom the Easterly 50 feet of even width throughout said Village Lot 7, Block O.
