TOW N o F NEW CAS T L E POLICY IN RESPECT OF FIRE PROTECTION STANDARDS FOR ESTATE LOT AND RURAL RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT 1. The Town of Newcastle shall require new estate lot and rural residential developments, developed by plan of subdivision to provide fire protection services in accordance with the attached "Generalized Standards". 2. The "Generalized Standards" anticipate two types of fire protection systems: (1) A system that is not constructed or maintained in accordance with Regional Policy and is, therefore, the responsibility of the Town, and (2) A system that is installed and maintained by the Region of Durham in accordance with the "Small Water System" Policy. Reference should be made directly to the Regional Policy as administered by the Durham Regional Works Department where such a system is required. In situations where Town Council does not require a system as described in (2) above, then a system as described in (1) above will be required in accordance with the attached "Generalized Standards". The "Generalized Standards" specified for the type 1 system (point (1) above) may be varied according to local development considerations, i.e.; considered as to the availability of existing services and commitments to new services. Deviations from the "Generalized Standards" may be accepted by the Town of Newcastle through the execution of development agreements. . . . - 2 - 3.
