THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW NO. 81- 144
Being a by-law of the Corporation of the
Town of Newcastle to re-establish the
position of Facilities Manager.
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the
Town of Newcastle wishes to re-establish the position of
Facilities Manager;
NOW THEREFORE THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY
ITS COUNCIL, ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The position of Facilities Manager is
hereby re-estab1ished.
2. The position shall have the duties and
responsibilities as set out in Schedule "A"
to this by-law.

3. The position shall be compensated
according to the Town's policy in respect
of non-union salaries.

Fat~lities Manager
Community Services
Directly responsible to the Deputy Director
of Community Services for the administration
and management of Town recreational properties.
1. Respons~ble for the management of Town
facilities under the direction of the Deputy
Director of Community Services including;
a) Preparation of budget submissions for
operations of the municipal arenas,
fitness centre and outdoor pools.
b) Supervision of activities and operations
of facilities including the preparation
of schedules for recreational programs
and special events. Responsibility
includes building and facility maintenance
and equipment repair.
c) Supervision of nine (9) full-time municipal
staff, including building attendants and
cashiers and supervision of up to fifty (50)
part-time seasonal employees.
d) Undertaking of financial transactions of
facilities (including preparation and
submission of cash receipts and bank
deposits). Preparation of reports to
senior staff on account~ng of program
revenues.
2. Preparation of repor~~ and recommendations in
respect of Town facilities for consideration by
the Deputy Director and Director of Community
Services.
3. Responsible for preparing and making
presentations to Council and Committees of
Council as may be required.

4. Other specific responsibilities as may be
assigned by the Deputy Director or the
Director of Community Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of Grade 13, Senior Matriculation.
2. Certified Engineering Technician's
qualifications or combination of related
experience and educational certification.
3. Proven written and verbal communication
skills, including effective communication
skills with members of the public.
4. Valid Vehicle Operator's Licence.
