THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 83-21
being a by-law to further amend By-law No.
78-53, as amended by By-law No. 81-143 being
a by-law to govern the proceedings of the
Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Newcastle
WHEREAS Section 105 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, authorizes
Municipal Councils to pass by-laws for governing the Proceedings of
Council, conduct of its members and the calling of meetings;
AND WHEREAS Council desires to amend By-law No. 81-143, being a
By-law passed pursuant to Section 242 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O., 1970;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
hereby enacts as fo11 ows: .
1. That Section 8(f) of By-law No. 81-143 which reads:
(f) "Appoi ntments to other Commi ttees and Boards shall
be recommended to Council by a Striking Committee
composed of the Mayor, one Regional Councillor and
one Local Counci11or,"
be and is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefore:
(f) "Appoi ntments to Standi ng Commi ttees and other
Committees and Boards shall be recommended to
Council by a Striking Committee composed of the
Mayor and three Counci 11 ors. II
2. By-law No. 83-7 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this

1983.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 24th day of January 1983.
