TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW NO. 90--5.a
STREET NUMBERING BY-LAW
WHEREAS Section 210, Subsection 106 of the Municipal Act authorizes the municipality to enact a by-
law for numbering the buildings and lots along any highway in the Municipality;
WHEREAS the Town of Newcastle deems it necessary in the interest of public safety that all buildings
shall be identified by street numbers;
WHEREAS the Town of Newcastle has adopted a comprehensive street name and number system for
all highways within the Municipality;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Newcastle enacts as follows:
1. Any person who owns real property in the Town of Newcastle shall affix a municipal street
number on his property in an appropriate place that is clearly visible from the abutting street.
2. In the event any person who does not comply with the requirement of Paragraph 1 set out in
this By-law, the municipality may affIX such street number and assess the cost against the
property owner through taxes in accordance with Section 210(106) of the Municipal Act.
3. This By-law shall come into full force and effect on January 1st, 1991.
