THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 90-24
being a by-Jaw to amend By-Jaw 79-1, as amended; being a by-Jaw to
provide for the regulating of parking, standing and stopping on
highways or parts of highways under the jurisdiction of the Corporation
of the Town of Newcastle and on private and municipal property
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to amend the said By-Jaw to regulate the parking of motor vehicles
on the municipal parking lots located on Church Street and Division Street in the Town of Newcastle
known municipally as 130, 132 Church Street and 20 Division Street respectively;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle hereby enacts as follows:
1. That Subsection 6(b)(i) of Section VIII "Parking Meters" be deleted in its entirety and
substituted therewith:
"(b) Notwithstanding (a) above:
(i) only an authorized person shall park a vehicle or permit a vehicle to
remain parked in a parking meter space where the meter has been
covered or removed to indicate reserved parking and stating "No
Parking";"
2. Schedule "E" (respecting location of parking meters) to By-Jaw 79-1 is hereby amended by
removing the existing parking meters located at 130, 132 Church Street, municipal parking lots
as specified
3. That the said parking lots under the jurisdiction of the Town of Newcastle located at 130, 182
Church Street be used for the parking of motor vehicles for the Town of Newcastle employees,
and said agents.

(a)
That eighteen (18) parking spaces located at 180 Church Street, Part of Lot 161, Block
Q, Hanning's Plan be designated for parking of motor vehicles of the Town of
Newcastle employees.
(b) That seventeen (17) parking spaces located at 180 Church Street, Part of Lot 161, Block
Q, Hanning's Plan be designated for parking of Provincial Court Staff and Police
vehicles only, and will be marked as such.
(c) That the parking spaces on the easterly portion of 182 Church Street, Part of Lot 161,
Block Q, Hanning's Plan be designated for the specific use of the Town of Newcastle
Fire Department, and will be marked as such.
(d) That the thirty-one (81) parking spaces located on 182 Church Street, Part of Lot 161,
Block Q, Hanning's Plan be designated for the parking of motor vehicles of the Town
of Newcastle employees.
5. Persons using said spaces will be issued a parking authorization tag by the Town of Newcastle;
vehicles not authorized to use the parking lots at 130, 182 Church Street will be subject to the
penalties pursuant to By-Jaw 79-1.
6. That Schedule "E" to By-law 79-1 as amended is further amended by deleting Schedule "E"
therefrom and substituting the revised Schedule "E" attached to this by-Jaw as Schedule "A"
therefor.
7. That all parking meters and parking control devices shall reflect a rate of $.50 cents for one
hour (60 minutes); the said rates for parking shall be posted as specified.
8. That Section XV entitled "Penalties to By-Jaw 79-1 as amended" is hereby further amended by
deleting Subsection (1) therefrom and substituting the following revised subsection therefor:
"(1) Any person who contravenes the provisions of Subsections (1)
and (2) of Section ill, Subsections (1), (2), (8), (4) and (5) of
Section VIII of this By-Jaw shall be subject to a penalty of not
less than'Five Dollars ($5.00) and not more than Twenty-Five
Dollars ($25.00) for each offence exclusive of costs recoverable
under the provisions of the "Provincial Offences Act."

9. That By-law 87-96 sball be and is hereby repealed.
10. That this By-law sball take effect immediately upon approval by the Council of the Town of
Newcastle.
