By-law No. 88-87
Being a By-law Regarding Garbage
Collection and Rates
Whereas it is deemed advisable to establish charges for garbage collection to
owners, householders or occupants of buildings within the Town of Newcastle for
the year 1988;
And Whereas Council has the authority to charge a monthly rate for the
Collection of garbage, pursuant to Section 210, (86) of the Municipal Act,
R.S.O. 1980;
Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle Enacts
As Follows:
1. That the owners, householders or occupants of any buildings in the
designated garbage areas in the municipality shall be charged a monthly rate
for the collection, removal and disposal of garbage or other refuse except
that the following class of land owners, householders or occupants shall be
exempt from the monthly rate:
Industrial Areas and vacant Land within the
designated garbage collection areas of the Town.
2. That collection charges shall be as follows:
Bowmanville
Residential
Commercial/Business
- $ 8.18 per unit per month
- $ 8.18 per unit per month
Court ice
Residential
Commercial/Business
- $ 8.l8 per unit per month
- $ 8.l8 per unit per month
Village of Newcastle
Residential
Commercial/Business
Foster creek
- $ 9.28 per unit per month
- $15.89 per unit per month
- $ 9.28 per unit per month
village of Orono
Residential
Commercial/Business
Orono Estates
- $ 9.28 per unit per month
- $15.89 per unit per month
- $ 9.28 per unit per month
3. That the monthly rate shall be collected on an annual basis and shall be
identified as a charge for garbage collection on the municipality's
tax notice.
By-law read a first and second time this 13th day of June 1988.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 13th day of June 1988.
