WHEREAS the Cbuncil of the Cbrporation of the Town of Newcastle deems it advisable
to arrend By-law 87-156 of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle;
NOW 'IHEREFORE the Council of the Cbrporation of the Town of Newcastle hereby enacts
as follows:
1. That Section II of By-law 87-156 is hereby amended by the addition thereto
of the following:
(1) No person shall own or harbour and no household shall own or
harbour rrore than three (3) dogs, within the Urban Areas of
Cburtice, Bowmanville and Newcastle Village as designated by
Schedule "A" attached hereto and fanning part of this by-law.
'Ihose persons currently in rontravention of this section will be
required to comply not later than April 2, 1989.
2. That Section II 2 (a) of By-law 87-156 be deleted and replaced with the
following:
(a) The owner of a dog in the 'Ibwn of Newcastle shall pay to the
Town of Newcastle, in each year, a license fee as follows:
(i)
For a spayed or neutered dog, upon
presentation of proof of spaying or
neutering
For the first and serond dog
Fbr the third dog
Fbr the fourth and each additional dog
$ 10.00 each
$ 20.00 each
$ 30.00
$ 50.00 each *
(ii)
(iii)
(iv)
* Note: Anyone wishing to license rrore than three (3) dogs is
advised to refer to Schedule I AI.
3. That Section III (14) of By-law 87-156 be deleted and replaced with the
follow"ing:
(i) any owner claiming a dog which has been seized and irrpounded
shall pay to the Animal Control Officer the following pound
fees:
(a) $30.00 for the first irrpounding of a dog in a
calendar year;
(b) $50.00 for each subsequent :inpounding of that
dog in the same calendar year.
(ii) the am::>unt of the maintenance fee payable under Section (i)
shall be $10.00 per day for each day that the dog remains
ilrpounded including the day of seizure am irrpounding.
4. 'Ihis by-law shall rorre into effect on the day of enact.rrent.
