THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NE.W:ASTLE
BY-LAW 87- 77
being a by-law to provide for an annual
allowance to the Mayor and Members of
Council
Pursuant to the Municipal Act. R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, Section
238(1), the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
hereby enacts as follows:
1. THAT effective January 1st 1987, the Mayor be paid an annual
allowance of twenty-three thousand, nine hundred and sixty-
four dollars ($23,964); and that effective January 1st, 1988
the Mayor be paid an annual allowance of twenty four thousand
nine hundred and twenty three dollars ($24,923); and
2. THAT effective January 1 1987, Members of Council be paid an
annual allowance of ten thousand, eight hundred and fifty-one
dollars ($10,851); and effective January 1, 1988 Members of
Council be paid an annual allowance of eleven thousand, two
hundred and eighty-five dollars ($11,285); and
3. THAT such allowance shall be paid bi-weekly and in the event of
the death of a member, or upon hisjher ceasing to be a member for
any reason before the expiration of hisjher berm of office, the
amount shall be in proportion to the period of hisjher service
during such term.
4. THAT By-law 86-5 of the Town of Newcastle is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 13th of April 1987.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 13th of April 1987.
