THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF ~STLE BY-LAW NUMBER 87- 59 BEING A BY-LAW TO ESTABLISH FEES FOR TAX CERTIFICATES .. , , Whereas, The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Section 385 and 408, requires that upon request (demand) the Corporation must furnish a written, certified statement of current and/or arrears of taxes; And Whereas, the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle is authorize~ to charge a fee for this service; Now therefore, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle enacts as follows: 1. The Treasurer shall, on demand, give a written, certified statement of the 'arrears in taxes dues on any land within the Town of Newcastle; 2. The fee for each statement issued showing arrears of taxes shall be Twelve Dollars ($12.00); 3. After taxes have been levied in any year, the Tax Collector shall upon demand give a certificate with respect to any assessment for real property or business assessment indicating that the taxes for the current year have been levied, the amount of the taxes and whether or not all or any part of such taxes have been paid; : 4. The amount of the fee for each tax certificate issued shall be Twelve Dollars ($12.00); 5. The provisions of this by-law shall not apply to notices mailed or delivered to any person, notifying them of the amount of taxes due in any year, or that taxes on their lands are in arrears, or any person Who forthwith, pays tax arrears; 6. All by-laws, or parts of by-laws, setting the fees to be charged for tax certificates within the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle, inconsistent with this by-law are hereby repealed; 7. That this by-law shall come into force and take effect Unmediately upon the date of the final passing thereof, and shall remain in force from year to year until it is repealed and any by-law repealing this by-law shall be effective immediately in the year in Which it is passed.
