HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-39 DN: PARK/B THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEViCASTLE BY-LAW NUMBER 89- 39 being a By-law to amend By-law 79-1 as amended for the regulating of parking, standing or stopping on highways under the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle. WHEREAS the Council of the corpOration of the Town of Newcastle deems it advisable to designate for on-street reserve parking space for physically handicapped persons and for the Mayor of the Municipality. AND WHEREAS the Section 210, Subsections 118 and 119 of the Municipal Act (R.S.O. 1980) allows the municipality to enact a by-law to regulate permit parking on public highways. NCM THEREFORE be it enacted by the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle by the Council thereof as follows: 1. Notwithstanding any provisions with respect to parking regulations on public highways contained in By-law 79-1 as amended, no person shall park or stop any vehicle on the south side of Church Street for a distance seventy (70) feet westerly from Temperance Street save and except for the following: a) Any physically handicapped person may park or stop any vehicle within the specified location as signed provided the vehicle carries proper identification as vehicle used by physically handicapped person. b) The Mayor of the Town of Newcastle may park or stop any vehicle within the specified location as signed. 2. Any person who contravenes the provisions of this By-law is subject to a fine and penalty as determined under the Provincial Offence Act.
