THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW NO. 89-230
being a by-law to amend By-law 79-1, a
by-law to provide for the regulating of
Parking, Standing and Stopping on Highways
under the jurisdiction of the Corporation
of the Town of Newcastle and on private
and municipal property
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to amend the said by-law to allow
certain exemptions from the payment of parking fees,
The Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle hereby
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
THAT subsection 6(b) of Section VIII, Parking Meters be
deleted in its entirety and substituted therewith:
lib) notwithstanding (a) above:
i) only an authorized person shall park a vehicle or
permit a vehicle to remain parked in a parking meter
space where the meter has been covered;
ii) Council, by resolution, may designate an area or
areas for a certain period to be exempt from the
payment of parking fees;
iii) areas designated under clause (ii) shall be denoted
by an unmarked parking meter cover placed over the
meter;
iv) the area as shown in 'Schedule A', attached, shall
be designated as a Free Parking area for a period
of time commencing on the Monday of the last full
week of shopping prior to Christmas and ending on
December 27 of each year. II
