THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 89-23
being a by-law to appoint a Deputy Clerk
THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Marie Knight is hereby appointed Deputy Clerk of the
Town of Newcastle, effective 8:30 a.m., February 13, 1989.
2. THAT the said appointment be in accordance with the terms
and conditions set out in Schedule IIA" attached hereto.
3. lHAT By-law 88-38 be repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 30th day of January 1989
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 30th day of January 1989

Schedule "A" to By-law 89-23
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE APPOINTMENT OF MARIE KNIGHT AS THE
DEPUTY CLERK FOR THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE.
The following shall be the terms and conditions of the employment
of Marie Knight as the Deputy Clerk of the Town of Newcastle, namely:
1. Effective 8:30 a.m., February 13, 1989, Marie Knight shall
commence her employment with the Corporation of the Town of
Newcastle as Deputy Clerk;
2. The duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Clerk shall be
in accordance with By-law 81-118, as amended, from time to time;
3. Marie Knight shall be remunerated at Level 10, Step 15 of the
Salary Administration Program of the Town of Newcastle for
non-affiliated staff, subject to any general increases in
salary approved by Council;
4. Marie Knight shall be entitled to all other employee benefits
for non-affiliated staff as may be determined from time to time;
5. The employment of Marie Knight shall be subject to a 60 working
day probationary period at the expiry of which her performance
shall be evaluated by the Chief Administrative Officer in
conjunction with the Clerk;
6. Marie Knight's vacation entitlement will consist of an
equivalent of ten working days in 1989 fallowing the successful
completion of the probationary period.

DOCLARATION OF APPOINTED OFFICE
I, Marie P. Knight, do solemnly promise and declare that I will
truly and faithfully and impartially, to the best of my knowledge
and ability, execute the office of Deputy Clerk, that I will truly,
faithfully and impartially, to the best of my knowledge and
ability, execute the office to which I have been appointed in
this municipality, that I have not received and will not receive
any payment or reward, or promise thereof, for the exercise of
any partiality or of malversation or other undue execution of
such office (or offices), and that I have not by myself or
partner, either directly or indirectly, any interest in any
contract with or on behalf of the Oorporation except that arising
out of my office as Deputy Clerk.
