THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF N~E
BY-LAW 89- 114
being a by-law to provide for an annual
allowance to the Mayor and Members of
COuncil for this term of office.
Pursuant to the Municipal Act. R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, section
238(1), the council of the corporation of the Town of Newcastle
hereby enacts as follows:
1. THAT effective January 1st 1989, the Mayor be paid an annual
allowance of twenty-six thousand, one hundred and sixty nine
dollars ($26,169): and thereafter for the term of council
remuneration shall be as set out under Schedule "A" attached
hereto: and
2. THAT effective January I 1989, Members of COuncil be paid an
annual allowance of eleven thousand, eight hundred and forty
nine dollars ($ll,849): and thereafter for the term of council
remuneration shall be as set out under Schedule "A" attached
hereto: and
3. THAT such allowance shall be paid bi-weekly and in the event of
the death of a member, or upon his/her ceasing to be a member for
any reason before the expiration of hiS/her term of office, the
amount shall be in proportion to the period of hiS/her service
during such term.
4. THAT By-law 87-77 of the Town of Newcastle is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 26th day of June 1989
