HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-16 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-LAW 86- 16 being a by-law to repeal by-law number 742 of the former Village of Newcastle and enti tled lIa by-law to close Monroe Street in the Village of Newcastle on the east side of Mill Street, to facilitate the installation of the municipal water system tank" WHEREAS on April 10th 1961, the Council of the former Village of Newcastle enacted By-law Number 742, closing Monroe Street in the Village of Newcastle on the east side of Mill Street, to facilitate the installation of the municipal water system tank; AND WHEREAS the water tower for which closure was effected is no longer in existence; AND WHEREAS that portion of Monroe Street, closed by By-law 742 of the former Village of Newcastle has continued to be used by owners of property abutting on it; AND WHEREAS there are lots of record abutting upon the closed road allowance; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. THAT By-law Number 742 of the former Village of Newcastle is hereby repealed; 2. THAT Monroe Street, east of Mill Street, Newcastle Village, is deemed to be an open road and shall be maintained by the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle on a year-round basis for a distance of 300 feet east of the east limit of Mill Street, in accordance with the Town of Newcastle's Road Maintenance Policy.
