THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW 94-196
Being a By-law to repeal By-law 91-200, to appoint
Members of the Clarington Public Library Board.
WHEREAS Section 9(1) of the Public Libraries Act, 1984, provides
that a public library board for a municipality whose population is
less than 100,000, shall be composed of at least five (5) and no
more than nine (9) members appointed by the Municipal Council;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to the requirements of the Public Libraries
Act, 1984, the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of
Clarington enacted By-law #85-85, establishing the composition of
the Newcastle Public Library Board;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF
CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOW:
1. THAT the membership of the Clarington Public Library Board
shall be composed as follows:
a) Two representatives of the Northumberland and Clarington
Board of Education, as follows:
Elizabeth Marchant-Reid
Rose Robinson Hately
b) One representative of the Peterborough-Victoria-
Northumberland and Clarington Separate School Board, as
follows:
c) Five resident appointees, as follows:
Romona Rickard
Jacob Vander Schee
Don Peebles
Stephanie Creighton
Craig Brown
d) One representative of the Municipal Council, as follows:
Mayor Diane Hamre
2. THAT each board member shall hold office for a term concurrent
with the term of the appointing Council, or until a successor
is appointed.
3. THAT By-law #91-200 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 12th day of December,
1994.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 12th day of
December, 1994.
