HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-58 REPEALED BY BY .LA v/ #~.9R1.7.1~O THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-LAW 93..5Jl. being a by-law to amend By-law No. 87-156; a by-law to provide for licensing and regulating the keeping of dogs WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Newcastle deems it expedient to amend By-law No. 87-156; NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle enacts as follows: 1. That By-law 87-156 is amended by deleting paragraph 13 (a) and replacing it with a new paragraph 13(a) as follows: "13(a) Any cat or dog held under the possession of the Animal Control Centre shall be held for a period no less than five (5) days excluding the day the cat or dog is seized, Sundays and statutory holidays. If such cat or dog is not claimed after five (5) days, the Animal Control Officer may, at his or her discretion, and subject to the requirements of Section 20 of the Animals for Research Act RSO 1990, destroy such cat or dog or sell such cat or dog upon payment of a sum not exceeding Ten Dollars ($10.00). Provided however, that nothing in this paragraph shall prevent the Animal Control Officer from destroying any cat or dog which is ill or injured pursuant to Section 22(7) of the Animals for Research Act, and that the five (5) day provision as contained in this paragraph shall be reduced to three (3) days when the capacity of the Animal Control Centre exceeds 80%." 2. This By-law shall corne into full force and effect immediately after the final passing of Council. BY-LAW read a first and second time this 26th day of April, 1993.
